For the best accuracy in creating your commission artwork, I ideally prefer to work from photograph of the actual aircraft in question. Sadly, there is no "perfect" photograph that will show all the details of the camouflage pattern squadron markings, nose art, bomb tally and individual features. Only a few Avro Lancaster’s were photographed showing this amount of detail.

Having previously worked on projects were the are very few or only limited views of a particular Lancaster, despite this, it is not a major problem as I will use selected and trusted specialist groups in-order to gather this vital missing information to complete the artwork.

Using my own extensive reference books, I can trace the individual batch numbers, dates and search through individual serial numbers. Accuracy is very important and using specialist refence books this will ensure that your profile will display the correct features that would have been fitted to the airframe at that time.

Any information you provide me via email, whether it's in a form of a photograph or text, is treated with the upmost care. My aim is that your finished artwork print is not just a detailed drawing, but an accurately crafted illustration image.

Each print demonstrates a high level of dedication and knowledge of the subject, together with an eye for detail that is too small to see or hidden beneath. It is this that makes every image more than just a profile.

The more you study it, the more you'll notice that the detail is not just on the exterior, the turrets display a full interior detail including the correct framework, plumbing / wiring and highly detailed WWII air gunner.

The nose section being the most distinctive part, and being the most complicated part do draw, with multiple angles and contours. The canopy is a large, glazed section of the Lancaster, this has been created as a multi layered drawing, where the external front section of the frame has rivets and wooden rear is represented with tiny screws. Behind the outer frame the Plexiglass with observation blister and window grab handle.

The nose and front section have been drawn with a fully detailed interior, housing the Pilot, Flight Engineer, Wireless Operator and Flight Navigator. The nose art, bomb tally and squadron letters are drawn to match the style and correct placement on the fuselage.

The profile doesn't just show the aircraft's main features, but much more, the many rivets, each one closely mirroring those on the actual aircraft. The various inspection panels on the engines, horizontal stabilizer and rudder, control surfaces, trim tabs are all included, with thoughtful shading, lighting and exhaust staining.

All artwork is printed with a six-ink high-quality printer and using A3 297mm x 420mm. Paper selection took a while as this was so important and vital to obtain the finish I was looking for. With this and after several print tests using the same test print and different media types, I selected Hahnemühle Fine Art paper, which I found to provide the correct colour range, which picks up the fine details of the panel lines, rivets and texture.

The main image size is 410mm x 96mm this allows for a 3mm gap this can be reduced if required to enable mounting.

For protection and storage your print is placed in an acid free clear pocket, which is then enclosed between two A3 card sheets with tape and posted out in a strong double card backed envelope.

All artwork prints will include an "Artist Certificate of Authenticity" with the printed date and individual print number and drawing reference number.
